Stillwater Automotive Service
My son is a freshman OSU student who took his car there because the abs light was on. Turned out the alternator was bad. They fixed it, no problem. My only concern is they tried to sell him some other services, totaling an additional $1100. One of those services being a transmission fluid change. We had the fluid changed less than 6 months ago at our mechanic in his hometown. My son tells me they were very polite and helpful. Thanks Lonnie.
Danny, I am sorry you were not happy with your son's experience here. I looked back at the report my tech did and he did have on the check out sheet that the trans fluid looked very dark and his other fluids looked like they needed changing also. That estimate also included front and rear brakes which were getting thin. My tech gets no extra pay for selling additional work so he is not trying to pitch things the car does not need. It can be somewhat subjective though to judge a cars fluids by the color. If your car had lots of miles on it before the last time your fluid was changed, there could have been a lot of crud in the trans that mixed in with the new fluid after the service and has discolored the fluid again. I've seen that happen here too. We really appreciate your business and will always tell you what we believe the car needs when you come here but we expect to work together with our customers to decide the best care of their car. One thing you will never see here is us putting any pressure on someone to do a repair we recommend. We will tell you what we think and you can tell us to stop or go. The choice is yours. Thanks again for your business and we would love to see your son in here again. He was a very pleasant young man. We have been in business at this same location for 28+ years and have done it by being fair and honest with our customers. Please call me if there is anything else I can do to correct this situation. Lonnie
